About Me
Hello, I’m Ruth, and I’d rather dive into a new world between two book covers than do absolutely anything else. Why would I get ready to go out when I could be outsmarting child-snatchers in the frozen North? Instead of catching an early night I could be riding the plains of the American West with a band of horse breakers. And those long meetings at work, well I’d rather be in the company of a troupe of artists wandering post-apocalyptic Earth.
When I find a new book I love, whether it’s funny, or dark, or moving (or preferably all three) I get excited and want to share it with everyone. My partner, friends, colleagues and family, they didn’t ask but I tell them anyway; “this book I’m reading is so good!”
In some ways, as a solo activity reading can be a lonely experience. You’re travelling those worlds in good company, with a band of characters by your side, and together you laugh at your witty observations, and cry over shared losses and heartache. When you put the book down and turn back to the real world you lose that company, which is why discussing the best stories with others is also one of my favourite things.
So, let me share with you this book I’m reading…
